Qualified Black Workers ‘Earn Less’ Than White Colleagues

Research by The Trades Union Congress (TUC) has found black workers earn much less than their similarly qualified white peers, at all levels of education. The TUC’s analysis of pay data suggests the difference in average pay rates amounts to a gap of 23 per cent with black graduates earning on average £14.33 an hour, compared with £18.63 earned by white graduates. Similarly the average pay gap between black and white workers with A-levels is 14 per cent and at GCSE level the gap is 11 per cent, according to TUC's findings.
